With his pick of Vice Presidential Candidate Sarah Palin, John McCain hopes to appeal to women, especially disenchanted supporters of Hillary Clinton.

But McCain's choice is an insult. Women voters want a woman in the White House who they believe in and who is prepared for the job. Not just any woman.

A woman should be in the White House because she is qualified - not because as a woman, she helps make the ticket "historic".
